    .303-Brit Reload questions

I have the following components for reload: 1x-fired misc.brass, 150gr FMJBT (.310), Varget, and CCI LR primers for my No4 Mk1*. I'm only punching paper at 100yrds. Questions:

    1. Would 40gr of Varget sounds good for starting load?
    2. Is Varget a good fit w/ 303-Brit?
    3. I couldn't find the land of the rifle (long throat?). What's your COL (or how shallow do you seat the bullet)?
    4. What's a good bullet weight for 303-Brit?
    5. Finally, what's your pet load?

    1. Yes
    2. Varget is a popular and accurate target for rifles in 150 grain bullet range - so I say, "yes it is"
    3. Enfields are generous in their throats and chambers - which method did you use for testing the maximum COL? I'd set COL recommended by your manual and just set a heavy crimp - that should make for an easy jump into the rifling grooves, every time.
    4. 150 grain bullets are good - very close to original loads... I've made some 125 grain loads for my friend and he likes them a lot - he can walk them out to long ranges without having to compensate much for the bullet drop. Flat and fast, while I know they are well under the maximum pressure - also, softer on the shoulder.
    5. Reloader-7 with 125 grain - I used Sierra Manual midway load and it seemed to please.
