How many bullet casters out there?

caster here too.

I use all LEE MOLDS...Nothing wrong with them. I have .224 6 cavity, .32acp 2 cavity, 7.62 2 cavity, 40 6 cavity, buckshot and 1oz slug mol.

I use .224 for my "jacketed" .223 projectiles, .32acp and 7.62 for my Mosin and 7.62x39 and 40 for my 40sw pistols while the other is of course for shotgun.

You guys are getting me motivated to jump into bullet casting. I have no equipment but I got 7 buckets of all lead wheel weights. I'm just not sure where bullet casting is going with the elimination of lead wheel weights...

Yup, kinda sucks....last I checked the junk yard and about 5% were lead WW the rest were zinc or whatever poop they had....pretty sad.

What do you use for load data? Do you use 7/8-oz or 1-oz shot data or is it different. I've got the mold already, but I haven't loaded anything up yet. I use AA hulls, btw.

My buddy loads them using bulk WalMart Federal shells. Use a box knife to cut off the crimp, dump the shot (recycle it into the pot), drop the slug into the shot cup and seal with hot glue. The slug is 7/8 oz, while the dumped shot is 1 or 1-1/8 oz, so we feel it's safe to use the rest of the shell as-is. I was skeptical at first, but they work great!

Easier on the shoulder than factory slugs too.

Since you are using WIN AA Shot Shells, I have found that using the following recipe will hit a 10 inch steel plate @ 100 yards out of a smooth bore 10 for 10 rounds without trying very hard. Extremely accurate for a cheap slug.
LEE 1 OZ. Slug recipe:
WIN AA Hull
WIN 209 Primer
WIN WAA 12 wads
Herco 35.5 grains

It Screams but isn't too bad in terms of recoil, unless you are shooting out of a Benelli M3 SemiAuto 9 rounds at a time as fast as you can.

2nd time out after casting and assembling the above recipe, I fired 100 of these off and felt like I had to sorta force myself to fire the last 10

I remember seeing this chart before, but I just remembered why I never used it. I use Promo for my shotshell loads and I figured that I could find some load data using that or Red Dot. So, do you think I'm going to have to break down and buy another type of powder?

If it were me, I would. I was going to try Blue Dot but I decided decided on Herco since I have about a 55 gallon drum full of once / twice shot Red WIN AA Hulls. I bought a few thousand primers and 4 bags of 250 count Winchester WAA 12 (white) wads. Bought a few powder bushings for the 600 Jr and the rest is history. I really like the load and every time I shoot them, I can't believe how accurate they really are.
