pmc vs american eagle 45acp

Hi all,

Gonna buy a large lot (large for me anyway) of 45acp 230 FMJ. Whats the take home on the reloading performance of PMC vs American Eagle 45 cal brass? PMC has a slightly lower FPS in their factory loading, so maybe it has thinner walls?

I am wondering if one or the other will take more cycles of reloading than the other.

My experience was with PMC 9mm. It's a bit anemic and wouldn't cycle my 9mm Colt AR.

I have no idea if it's lightly loaded due to brass thickness or just to be conservative.

PMC brass is a little thicker than Federal. It has a smaller flash hole than Fed and a thicker web than Fed. If you look down a Fed case, you'll see it's not exactly "flat" down there; whereas PMC has a flat bottom. I think that's a different approach to the design. Instead of having a "meaty" web, Fed chose to put a radius on the corner inside wall. I don't know if it's any stronger but then again 45 isn't a high preasure round anyways. It could also serve a different function like promote combustion? I say buy whichever is most attractive to you and keep the brass for later
