TRG-22 range report; Why we reload

Been trying to find right combination of bullet, powder, and distance from start of lands that gives best results. I think I'm there or pretty close.

I have just been shooting for group size so not zeroed.

Can you get closer to the lands and still use the magazine?
Left, not "liberal", not what gets called "left" in American politics, Actually Left, like the government shouldn't be set up to favor certain groups, radically and fanatically left, like the ideas in the American Constitution (except that crap about 3/5ths of a person).

I did not use magazine they were to long. I did not load to consistant OAL, because each bullet is not exactly the same length.

I seated bullet 2.159" from base of brass cartridge to the ogive. That way ever bullet was seated exact same distance to the lands.

And yes you can load closer to the lands but of course you will have to feed each round at a time which is no big deal for me. I fact you can load touching the lands. I did that on some other powders with poor results, i.e., MOA of 3/4" to 1 1/2". But that was with SMK 175, which I've decided my rifle does not like.

I have not tried seating the berger bullets closer and I don't know if I'll try need to see how it shots at 600 and 800 yards.

Berger's like to be much closer to the lands than SMK's do, which is why she asked.

          Nice group there.

Actually, you give me too much credit. I was assuming that with .058" of jump that these might be magazine fed loads, since that's a good bit of jump and I have no idea how long Sako throats run.

I'm positive the loaded rounds are 2.159" from base to ogive. I did have a hard time figuiring out and precisely measuring exactly where the lands started. I believe the .058" is correct buy I am not 100% positive.

Well it was not working as good as it should have at 800 yards so now my new load with same Berger is .075" off the lands (and that is for sure). Loaded round is 2.170" from base of case to bullet ogive. It is loaded with 47 gr. of Varget, and I have zero pressure signs. I even went as high as 48 grains but the grouping kind of went downhill.

MOA is 13 to 600 yards and 21 to 800 yards. While I have not chronographed this load based on Berger Ballistic software program muzzel velocity is 2850 fps.

We have an 8" round piece of steel at 800 yards and I hit it 5 out 5 times. Some shots were higher than other but I did get the wind and mirage right as all shots lined up vertically.
