Fired my first batch of reloads.

I set up my new RCBS press two nights ago and was up all night studying for a final the next day, so I couldn't reload. Once the final was over, I raced home and hopped on the press. I started reloading at 8pm or so and when I finally got up for a some water it was 3am. I don't know what happened to the time in between but I found a fun hobby.

I took my fresh reloads to Angeles this morning with a couple other cal gunners, and I was thrilled by the result. Once I had my M1A dialed in, I was consistently hitting the 400yrd iron plates with nothing except irons and some helpful adjustments and advice. By the time I left, I had a 1.5 inch grouping at the 100yrd mark with irons. I'm going to be trying to improve on that with my next set of reloads, and I'll hopefully remember to bring a rear bag.

I think I'm hooked, the main reason I'm posting is the fact that my brass is in the tumbler and staring at the clock is getting boring. Anybody that reloads for your M1A, I'm more then eager to hear your accurecy reloads.

I'm currently using Reloaders 15(42 grains), Win Brass, Win Primers, Speer 150grain BT.

      +1

And Graf's has most of their AMAX bullets on sale right now.
The 168 grain bullets are $64.99/250
With their $4.95 shipping price, it's a pretty decent deal.

I use the Horandy AMax 155 grainers for my M1 Garand in 30-06. Love them. They are cheap, accurate, and they look cool. =)

          Good for you, 58.
once you start messing around with OAL, pro-jo weights, and other cans of powder, there will be no hope for you.

You have just begun to scratch the surface of precision handloads.

Great feeling isn't it? I shot my 1st 308 match reloads about a month ago. When I shot them just as good if not better than FGMM I was stoked. Especially for about $0.40 a round with my own brass

My only advice would be to do everything in bulk. At least for brass prep which takes most of the time.
