    Gun show powder and primers?

Does anyone know off the top of their head, prices for CCI #500 primers and Solo1000 powder at the gun show??? Wondering if it's worth the wait to the Ontario show or just order online and suck up the hazmat fee....Thanks!

I have seen both CCI and Winchester SP primers for $17.99 to $21.99 +tax at the local show here. Don't forget you are will also be saving on shipping/hazmat fees.

I used to always swear by CCI, until one time I needed some and all they had was Win SP. I'm glad I did, my .40 loads seem to burn much cleaner with them.

I picked up a pack of #500 from Delmar a few months back for $18. Next Delmar show I will be picking up more to avoid paying high local prices and hazmat fees on shipping.

don't forget to factor in parking and show entry. Up at the Cow palace parking is $10 maybe higher I don't remember. primers at $20/1000 is a good price. Just buy enough to make it worth the trip.

As I recall, Del Mar is like $25 or $30 to get in when you include the parking.

Costa Mesa has free parking if you park on the swap meet side.

Show entry is getting pricey though.

Does anyone know what some vendor might or might not price something that they might or might not bring to a gunshow? Seriously, give me a break. That's like asking someone to qoute a price for a chair at a garage sale. Who the hell knows the answer? Well, the vendor who actually brings the items to the show does but, that's about it.

You have to remember that sometimes no vendor will have exactly what you want or, someone might but he may want too much for it. Or you might get lucky. Just a couple years ago, when primers were being made of unobtainium and you could get triple their normal retail price, I found an old guy with some primers for sale. I paid $50 for 6000!!! I've seen powder sell for as cheap as $2/lb in the last couple of years too. But, again, none of that means that you'll find what you want at any gunshow.

At the SF show at the Cow Palace, I picked up 5000 Win SP primers for $100. The 4 lb bullseye was about $20 more (so $80) than the internet price at Graf & Sons. These were the prices at Miwall's booth.

Like everyone said, factor in the cost of admission, parking and tax.

If you are only going to pick up these items. Gun shows are entertainment. Kinda like going to the movies.

Gunshows have no real deals. Just a place to go gather with like minded people (and more than a few tin-foil-hat-wearers) as entertainment, like Spanky said.

While I agree about the entertainment part. Either you didn't read my post or, you don't think that 6000 primers for $50 is a "good deal"???? Sometimes you can score great deals but, you have to be ready to jump on them and, chances are, they're not going to be exactly what you are looking for. But, great deals do exist at gunshows. Just like any flea market, you have to hunt for the deals.

While what you say is sorta true CSA, the caveat is you have to rush in with the early birds and get trampled doing it. $50 for 6K primers is a good deal. Wonder how many people score that good of deal at Del Mar junk, errr, I mean Gun show? Oh... and I did not read your post...

I found the primers late in the day. It pays to look carefully on junky tables, under tables, in junk boxes, etc.
