Awhile back I was having issues with 30 '06 HXP brass getting stuck in my Garands chamber after sizing. What I was doing was inserting the brass into the chamber with my finger to make sure it fit properly. Essentialy using my gun as a case gauge.
Okay, the issue was the dies. I was using Lee 30 '06 dies and the shape of the rim of the die is rounded and it has a bevel. I tried an RCBS die (SB or regular, doesn't matter) and the brass now slides in no problem. Look at your RCBS die and you will see that the bottom edge of the die is perfectly flat.
The last 16th of the case head was not being sized. So whats the point? If you are reloading military 30 '06 brass with lee dies and your Garand has a tight chamber, you may encounter this problem. It must be rare because I didnt see it mentioned anywhere in my searches and no one could tell me right off what the problem was.
So there you go, I just thought I would post to add to the general knowledge base here at Calguns. I will put up some pictures of the two dies later.
