You do realize that all the slack goes away when the cases are all pushed up into the dies right?
Are you measuring OAL to the bullet tips?
If so, you are never going to get consistent readings as the bullets themselves are NOT all the same length.
You need to be measuring length to the Ogive.
THEN you will get consistent measurements.

If the slack really bothers you, it's really easy to add two setscrews under the press to eliminate the slack.
This won't change the OAL variation though.

As for differences in headspace of sized brass, this is a matter of the different hardness of the brass.
You will see different sizing lengths in all presses that's attributed to press and brass deflection.

The best cure is the redding competetion shellholders that allow "hard sizing" with the adjustability of headspace.

The Forester is a very strong press, but it won't account for differences in brass hardness.
If you keep using different kinds of brass, you are still going to have to adjust the sizing die differently to obtain the same headspace with each type of brass.

My suggestion is to buy a big batch of the SAME TYPE of brass.

ya, i'm having issues with FC brass right now. it expands way too much. lupua tends to hold well. nosler is holding up really well too. i'm going to stick with these two brass only.

According to Midway the Forster Bench Rest Full Length Sizer Die has an "Elevated expander button allows better alignment of case and neck".

That's a very worthy feature, but you need to properly adjust the die to use that feature.
With a sized case fully inserted, back the decapping stem out of the die until the expander button touches inside the case.
Then run the decapping stem back down one to two turns.
This will position the expander button so that it expands the case neck while the top of the case neck is still in the neck portion of the die.

Thats probably just a selling point for all their full length sizer dies. As for the .002 check out the forster wesite. http://www.forsterproducts.com/Pages/dies_order.htm

You'll notice an "*" next to the national match. Go down to the bottom of the page and you'll see what the footnote for the "*"

National Match will size cases .002" shorter. I'm not sure what effect this will have on your case, chamber, accuracy etc. I'm sure somebody will chime in shortly.

This is a known issue with FC brass.
It's softer.

You don't have a die or press problem, you have a brass problem.

I have to trim my Federal after every other load. It's a little more work but I get good accuracy and it works for me. Got a stockpile of the stuff from the factory FGMM i've fired. Plus I get other people's when I can at the range

i've seen his grouping. capable of 1/2 moa.

I have some wolf brass that I used in a load that gave me 5 shot .5 group.

i'm doing 1 moa right now. sometimes i get .5 but it's not consistant for me yet.

BHA brass (winchester) has been pretty consistent. I think it will need to be trimmed after 2 loads though. The wolf seems to grow about the same. All my federal brass after one reload needs to be trimmed. Way to long. I haven't measured the LC I have.

FGMM is good brass, yeah its soft and you have to watch your primer pockets, they tend to stretch. As a note those 1 hole groups I was getting on Sunday was with FGMM 3x reloaded brass with 168 AMAXs.
