in other words...same as every other walmart. i yearn for the good ole days... -
Bummer
I too miss the 'good ole days'. I was only able to get 2 value packs last time the sale was going. Some other folks seemed to be buying up almost everything, and then reselling it for a profit. :-(Comment

Ask the clerks if there is a sale at any walmart you know that carries ammo. The reason for this is that sometimes they don't change the tag, and there's a sale going on.
For example last week, WWB .45 Auto and 40 was on sale. I just went into the walmart and wanted to get blazer brass since its 11.97/box (cheapest commercial ammo I seen around here), the clerk says you know we have WWB 40 and 45 on sale.
45 Value pack was 23.73/100 last week. I bought 4. And no I didn't buy it to resell. I shot more than half of it already.
As of last week non sale prices for some ammo off my head:
45 Auto WWB $28.78/Value Pack
9mm $15.72/Value Pack
CCI Blazer Brass $11.97/ 50 rd box
Duarte Walmart is not the only choice for ammo, the Chino Hills Walmart has quite a bit too, plus the sales tax is lower over there (7.75 vs 8.25). I'm out east quite often so if I know I need to get something I try to make my purchases while I'm out in that area. Obviously it's not worth it go from where Duarte is to Chino to just get ammo, but if you're out in that area that wal mart usually has ammo. I don't know if the Glendora walmart has ammo but that's the next closet walmart to duarte I can think of.Comment

The last time I was at the Duarte WM (04/07) it was on sale... $11.88 for the WWB 100ct value pack. We got an even better deal since one of the guys was active military and they gave him an additional 10% off. We let him buy for all of us (of course).
So let me ask, how much would you have bought? That day between the 4 of us we got 11K of the WWB. The next week two of the guys went back and bought another 6K. The only reason they didn't buy more is because they didn't have any cases left. Did any of us sell it for a profit? No! We know the price will not get lower than that so we stocked up.
Posting when it is on sale on this or any other board will also guarantee that when you show up to buy some of the sale priced ammo, there will only be 2 value packs left. I would buy what I want and then post to let everyone else know. I'm just letting you know that not all of the ammo was resold for a profit, at least not 17K of it.

Reselling
I know everyone didn't resell their ammo, but I saw at least a couple people on this forum do so, and it appeared they purchased with the intent to resell. I'm not saying it's illegal to resell ammo, I just don't think that's in the spirit of calguns.
To each, his own.
I would have picked up 4-5K.Comment

I just picked up a case of the Blazer Brass 9mm at Duarte today. $5.67/50 x 20 boxes = DIRT cheap. Hope it shoots well.

just came back from the duarte walmart (lunch break). they have 9mm WWB for $12.72 per, and blazer .45acp for $8.65 per. unfortunately, the .45acp was out, and the salesperson said they expected a shipment of that on sunday. there were about 3-4 cases of the 9mm WWB after my visit. didn't see anything about blazer 9mm, perhaps the "rollback" ended?Comment

Wow! That was fast. I left at least ten boxes on the shelves. I will check on Monday on my way to work and let you guys know. Now I am off to the surplus store to pick up another couple of ammo cans for the 9mm. 1000 rounds takes up a lot less space in one of the 30's. I may try a 50 cal can and see if it is not too heavy.

Man! That was fast. The cases of blazer brass 9mm are all gone and the price went back up to $7.67/box. There were a few boxes left on the shelf and the 100 round white box of winchester was between $12 ans $13. If it changes I'll let you all know.
