    9mm defensive ammo? fiocchi?

I went to ammo brothers and asked what is a good round to use for self defense in 9mm, he said this would be good, puts down a box of Fiocchi 115gr JHP's. I googled it and it seems to have less than favorable results. (complete core and Jacket seperation) Whats better? There is sooo much info online and it is hard to filter it out, I keep hearing Hornady, and Magtech and one more brand that I forget.. Any suggestions? Gun is a Ruger LC9, primarily for close range personal protection.

Feel confident with anything on this list. Anything anyone else says is just personal preference and opinion. Personally I prefer heavier loads. I have Golden Sabers in my nightstand right now.

Barnes XPB 105 & 115 gr JHP (copper bullet)
Federal Tactical 124 gr JHP (LE9T1)
Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P JHP
    Winchester Ranger-T 124 gr +P JHP (RA9124TP)
Winchester Partition Gold 124 gr JHP (RA91P)
    Winchester Ranger-T 127 gr +P+ JHP (RA9TA)
    Federal Tactical 135 gr +P JHP (LE9T5)
Federal HST 147 gr JHP (P9HST2)
Remington Golden Saber 147 gr JHP (GS9MMC)
Speer Gold Dot 147 gr JHP
    Winchester Ranger-T 147 gr JHP (RA9T)
Winchester 147 gr bonded JHP (RA9B/Q4364)

You really can't go wrong with any one of the big 3 manufacturers JHP offerings.

      Winchester SilverTip
      Remington Golden Saber
      Federal Hydra-Shok

If you can afford it fund wise get a couple of boxes of each load that has been mentioned. See what your pistol likes and dislikes (funtion0, recoil, muzzle flash, etc. before you settle one a particular load.

Good example of this from my experience not a 9mm but a 357mag round. I decided to settle with Glaser Safety Slug for inside my home. One day I wanted to try it out to see how it functions, well I'm just glad that I did not have to use it inside a room. It was "loud" even with two hearing protection I sported that day my ears were ringing. I switched over to a .38spl load after that.

Accuracy wise that would be secondary since you mentioned "close range personal protection".

I currently have a 115gr. Silvertip for the first two mags for my Beretta. The rest of the mags are 115gr +P Gold Dots.

I ordered these, http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/searc...h-All+Products should be here tomorrow. I'll be working up a load using "Power pistol" powder. I think these will work well. I'm attempting to duplicate the police loads that a friend gave me.
