    Eat cilantro when casting/handling lead.

I recently started casting bullets. I bought a crucible at the local feed store and this girl there tells me shes a nutritionist. She said to eat cilantro when handling lead because it bonds with any lead you may ingest or absorb and filters it out of your body.

I bought a bundle at Safeway and had the local taqueria put some food around it. She said to juice it, ideally. I figure the local jamba juice wouldnt mind doing it since they juice wheatgrass.

    For what its worth..

I googled it. Didn't read too much but it's there.

I love Cilantro anyways. Another good reason to keep eating it.

      Great tip.

I use D-Lead too - www.esca-tech.com - they have a body wash too - smells a little like medicine but when I am exposed to a lot of lead I clean up with it.

I just wash my hands after handling/casting lead, change clothes and melt/cast lead out side with plenty of fresh air & ventilation. Been doing it for years, had a lead test this last year with no traces of lead in my blood.

Would you mind posting up where you can get a lead test done? Sounds like a very intelligent idea, and im guessing that if people knew how easy it was, more would do it.

Your doctor can lead test you at your next checkup. I believe my son got testing at his 1 year old checkup. They test most 1 year old's nowadays. When you get older you'll be asked if you want all kinds of different tests.

Lead isn't as dangerous as people make it out to be. Just don't swallow it, and you'll be fine. When I was a kid half my toys were made of 100% lead. I played with them constantly. Any healthy person's body will rid itself of toxins like lead.

The only shooting related lead exposure I've ever heard about was an employee at a local indoor range. The range had poor ventilation and he was hospitalized for lead poisoning.

I would never want to see a pregnant women at an indoor range. The biggest threat to shooters involving lead is indoor ranges. Even when casting, no lead can be inhaled beacuse it never comes close to the temperature needed to vaporize.

Sushi is way more dangerous than casting because of the mercury. I've gotten mercury headaches from eating sushi 3 days straight before.

Cilantro thing is just a bunch of homeopathy nonsense. however, it's a tasty flavor accent on a good taco, so it's a .... hmm, what's the opposite of a catch-22?

Not just sushi, many types of fish are having increasing levels of mercury in their systems. I believe salmon and tuna are big offenders. (It's also why you don't feed a cat tuna if you want it to live. Cat's systems are fragile when it comes to heavy metals).

Cilantro is a natural chelator, yes it does work to rid your body of heavy metals. However, I would eat cilantro before or after casting

Any industrial medicine specialist. I can tell you in semiconductor world, some companies require personnel to get a physical every 2 years including a urine test (where they specifically tell you it's not a drug test ) to check for heavy metals used in industry.

I guarantee you there is PLENTY of industry all over this state that expose personnel to heavy metals. Semiconductor, oil, anything that requires welding (which covers every last inch of the state)

So if I wanted a lead test the first thing I would do is open a yellowpages to the industrial medicine section then start calling based on geography and asking if they take personal insurance.
