load data: 75 gn A-max for 223

I need load data for varget and h335. COAL, too.

Hornady said they were sending me some months ago.

According to the Hornady manual 8th edition:
75gr A-Max for Varget starts at 19.4gr to max load of 23.5gr for velocity of 2200-2600 respectively. C.O.L. is 2.390" (page 169)

According to Lyman 49th:
75gr A-Max for H335 starts at 22.5 to max load of 25.1 for velocity of 2577-2850. COL is agin 2.390" (page 139)

FWIW, I run 24.5gr Varget under 77gr bullets so you should be able to use the data if you start 10% under and work up.

For OAL, I would recommend going 2.250 to 2.255" range. This longer OAL lowers pressure and shortens bullet jump to lands. For AR's this is about max fit magazine length anyway.

The A-max uses a secant ogive, seat it at that OAL and you'll have shoved the bullet into the case. Bearing lengths are different too so 24.5 is not a valid recommendation.

Thanks, guys. I will be shooting these through my ar so it will be a single shot affair. I probably would never have got these but i cant find 77 gn smk's locally to save my life. I did however,manage to score some 75 hornady hpbt but they wont be in for a week or so.

Which is why I note to reduce by 10% which puts you smack dab in the middle of the Lyman data noted earlier.

I stand corrected on the OAL for this bullet though.
