Yes, they work great, I don't have space in my home for a bench. I use it for loading my M1 Garand 30-06. I have the new kit so I can prime off the press too. Lee lists the hand press will take a lot of effort for 45 cap & m1 carbine.

The lee handpress is good for range use IMO, I've I
Used it to make a few rounds to finish up our long range matches and it just works. But for your purpose, bring more ammo. Add 100 more rounds will have less space and weight then carrying a hand press, dies, scale, powder, primers, bullets, funnels etc... Yeah you get the point.
