      Really, the answer is to get another .270 . It's such a great caliber for what you want, there's no reason to change. BUT, I completely understand the want for something "new and exciting". So, maybe a .280 Rem?

        How about a 7.62x54R? Mosin-Nagants also can shoot very well, though a Limbsaver is pretty much a necessity. Yes, they are scope-mountable. I've heard the Finn models are particularly good.

          T, Really?? I wish you lived close by, I would love for you to shoot some of my magnums or even some of my OO shot shell or slug loads. Those are pretty radical guns. I think you would enjoy the recoil of the big mags, at least the 1st or 2nd.
