    10mm recipe question....

I have a good amount of 10mm brass and about a thousand 155grn match grade wadcutters I plan on having reloaded (I don't reload myself, my lack of attention span is a liability). My question is: can someone give me an idea if 10mm can be reloaded to a less high pressure load, something more comparable to .40 and if so what's the recipe? I plan on using this ammo at action shoots and want to lessen the wear on my Delta Elite Match Cup.

    Thanks.

I don't have any experience loading that bullet, but this data should be a good place to start. Since the 155gr lead projectile is shorter than the 155gr JHP, these charges will produce even lower pressures (10mm max is about 37,000psi). Good luck, and let us know what you come up with.

155 GR. HDY XTP* Winchester* WSF* .400"* 1.260"*
    6.8gr 1100fps* 23,000 PSI*
    8.4gr*1320fps* 35,600 PSI

    155 GR. HDY XTP* Winchester* 231* .400"* 1.260"*
    5.8gr*1030fps* 23,000 PSI*
    7.3gr*1253fps* 35,700 PSI*

What primer, powder (and how much) would I use to create a low pressure round using these?

Any standard LP primer will work, CCI/Winchester/Federal/Wolf. I'd start at the lowest listed charge and work down in 0.2gr increments. Find the level of recoil you like, and then tune in for accuracy. W231 will probably be the best for downloading, but unique is awesome for light 10mm target loads too. I have loaded 180gr JHP's @ 5.3gr W231, which got 950fps out of my 6" barrel. It was EXTREMELY light recoiling, and very accurate. Load development takes a little time and effort, but it's worth it when you find the sweet spot.

Awesome. This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks for the input.

Are you suggesting that 10 & 40 are interchangeable? I understand that the bullets are, but I thought that the brass was not.

No they are not. I was suggesting using a dedicated 40pistol because you will lose a lot of brass.

Id stay away from federal. To many people seem to blow up there presses with them.

Ive had the best luck with winchester. CCI are a bit harder, and some guns dont reliably ignite them.

thats just IMO and IME of course.

So here's another question for you, how much is this worth as a package? I'm thinking of ditching the project altogether.

500 Match Grade 175 GR. wadcutters
                  100 Hornady 180 GR. JHP
                  100 Hornady 180 GR. FMJ
                  ~50 used tumbled, de-primed brass
                  ~50 unused de-primed brass
