First rifle reloads! With one problem

Not as nervous as shooting my first reloads. But still kinda exciting. 7.5X55 Swiss using various charges of 4064 powder, 178 grain Amax bullets, and once fired prvi partizan brass. Rifle rounds look so much cooler than handgun rounds .

Weird thing is compared to Prvi partizan. My elevation was pretty much the same but my windage was more than a foot to the right. That's why there's no #1 group, I was shooting at a shoot-n-c to the right but the rounds landed in the middle bull where I initially fired five rounds of the prvi partizan for comparison. Then I made the wrong scope adjustments for the #3 group so they went even further to the right off the paper.

One problem, the firing pin wouldn't hit one round out of the 20 I loaded. Tried multiple times.

If your going to spend all the time to reload,

Get better brass, it really does make a difference.

The next biggest difference I made was size, trim and then sort by weight and reload with one weight +-1 grain of brass.

Then again, I need all the help I can get with steel silhouette turkeys at 385 meters.

I am also new to reloading so it looks like it is determined the primer is set too deep into the casing

what can be done to correct this?

Pull bullet, dump powder charge, remove and reseat primer

I don't think the effort is worth reusing that one case. Take it apart if you want but I say just throw it away.

It should be determined why it's seated too deeply... too much crush and/or excessively deep pocket.

As for handling that particular case, I would very gently push the primer out a few thou and fire it, to ensure final disposal. And then decap it the rest of the way and measure the primer pocket.

(With the muzzle stuck in an old towel, for instance, the report is muffled completely.. but the towel will get blasted with residue.)

Thanks, thought that might be it. But seemed too simple expected to at least see a mark. I have trouble squeezing the hand primer with consistent force.

Prvi is the only reasonable option for boxer primed 7.5 swiss brass. Norma makes 7.5 brass but 100 cases cost more than the rifle. For now I'm happy with the results from a $120 rifle. But eventually I'm sure I'll get more into the little details.
