    308 case gauge question

I somehow got a non-sized but trimmed brass into my sized and trimmed brass. I have no idea how it got in that pile but it caused a big problem at the range when it wedged into the chamber and didn't want to come out. I got it out by banging the butt of the rifle on the ground and pulling the charge handle down. I hate to beat the rifle up like that but it was really stuck.

So my question is this. I have a 308 gauge but the stuck bullet drops right in and it is a loose fit. How can I get a gauge that is the same size as my barrel chamber for checking brass in the future before I load it?

Sounds like trying to chamber the bad round rezied the case so it now fits in your case gauge. I check all of my loaded in ammo rifle/pistol in case gauges be fore it gets put away.

JP case gauge works REALLY well for checking for exactly that problem. I lost a great barrel on an AR when I had the same thing happen and had to eat the barrel to get the stuck case out. After that, I case gauge everything in a JP chamber.

Might be a good idea to make a chamber casting and see how it measures.
