What makes 22LR "match" ammo more accurate?

So, Im enrolling in junior smallbore next month, and I'll eventually be learning the ins and outs of everything 22LR. I'd like to know what makes match grade ammo from such makers as Lapua, Eley, and SK much more accurate than, say, Blazer bulk?

I know in centerfire, you want a uniform bullet that is seated perfectly, ideally with the shank nearly touching the lands, with zero runout and perfectly crimped to allow uniform pressure, etc.. is it pretty much the same with match 22lr? more exacting tolerances?

I have been shooting rimfire cartridges all my life. I have done a lot of competitive shooting also. I can tell you that "Match" grade ammo has a lot better tolerances and consistency, however, it may or may not be what is best for your gun.

Now, I am no pro, but we used to shoot different ammo for different guns. When we got a new toy, we would take several different types of ammo out to the range to test it out. Kind of like loading your own ammo, you have to find out what works best in your gun. We used to use a lot of the Eley white box ammo, some rifles worked better with CCI and others use Remington. We have a few pistols that love Aguila for some reason.

I knew people who would use regular ammo, and for the nationals they would buy a 15 dollar box of 50 Eley Tenex, and would shoot no better than the day before using regular ammo.

Price of ammo, especially in regards to 22lr ammo is really nothing. You need to find out what is best for your gun overall.

Match ammo is better controlled in every dimension along with the propellent charge and primer charge amounts. It is also very controlled on how the priming compound is spun into the rim to insure consistent ignition. Many manufacturers such as Eley keep their actual manufacturing methods completely secret.

^^^ I just ordered some Wolf Match Extra

Can't wait to get started in the world of precision rimfire.. I have to admit up til now my use of 22 has only been about bulk pack plinking at the range. Now there's a whole science to shrinking groups with the 22lr round.

I *believe* the club that I'll be with has izhmash or lower end anschutz as beginner rifles for us to use. Could be wrong. Depending on how "hooked" I get and how much time I can devote, I could be spending some on a used Anschutz.

Qur Anschutz pistols are good to go with Eley white box, My dad has an Anschutz target rifle, and I forget what he shoots with it.
