    powder condition

If powder is in a sealed container, how long can it last? I ask because I have two pounds of 4831 that have been around for an unk length of time but, are sealed/unopened to air.

Same question for primers that are new in package.

    Thanks

About as long as loaded ammo will last, stored in similar conditions, if not more.

If the powder smells like rotten eggs, it's no good.
Spread it around in the garden.
It will still be good fertilizer.

I don't know but the opened cans of Bullseye, W296, Unique and 800X that I've had since the early 80's are still fine.

One powder manufacturer's web site says that as long as the powder doesn't have a bitter, acrid, or vinegary smell to it when you stick your nose into the bottle, it should be good to go.

Thats what I go by. I have some old stuff I got from friends over the years. Don't know how old it is but it still works. Definitly 70's or older.

I have a can of Norma powder that has a price of $3.65!! I know this is late 1950's or early 1960's price. It's still good!
