.308 Remington RP Brass: Any good for match grade?

I got like 25 pieces of Remington RP brass. Is this any good to reload for match grade ammo?

If they are once fired... and you sized them and trim them... they should be good.... even for match....

You may want to consider some "Lapua" brass.... EVERYONE will tell u that they are the nicest....

        They cost like $50/100 tho.

Or you can go t Garf & Sons and buy Lapua .308 Match ammo at like $25/20, and then u get 20 Lapua brass at the end.... NOT bad of a deal... just those BRASS is worth $10!!

Lapua 308 brass isn't that expensive. Grafs Dealer price is $41 per 100. That's only $10 or so more than 100 pieces of Winchester. Buy 3 or 4 boxes of 100 and that will last you through 2500 rounds fired at least.

For me, RP brass has been just fine for match ammo. Its relatively consistent and the flash holes look pretty good. Its at least as good as Winchester. Depending on where I'm shooting, I'll use RP or Win brass for matches where I may not get a chance to pick up my brass. That way its not as bad as losing Lapua!

                That's a LOT of mileage....

That's why Lapua match ammo is, I think, a better deal than Federal Gold Medal Match, since GMM's brass won't go as far as Lapua!

Thats a no brainer! Many guys get 10+ reloads without annealing. Not bad...

The thing with Lapua is you'll be guarding your brass like no one's business. I have no problem with brass thieves at my range, but I've heard stories about other ranges, and if I ever shot at a range where some guy tried to take my fired brass (especially my Lapua brass), I'll be putting a hurtin' on someone.

No doubt! I was just speaking of certain matches where you go through a stage and move to and from different areas. By the time you're finished, you're 20 yards away from where you fired your first rounds and the next guy is getting ready to shoot the stage. Those are situations for bulk brass. I couldn't imagine someone at a normal range thievin' my brass as it hit the ground. I'm with you Ocab...big time hurtin'.

ya i was originally gonna buy lupua, but at that time it was out at powder valley. i figure i have about 1150 rounds to shoot before all my brass goes bad, then i'll definitely try the lupua. but for now, my primo brass is Nosler!

                            Some info:
Lapua Rifle Brass - The manufacture of cases begins with high-quality raw materials, as well as superior smelting and metallurgical competence. And throughout multiphase production process the focus on full-scope quality control is consistent with Lapua's exacting standards. Particular attention is also paid to calibration and the metallurgical properties of the case, such as hardness, solidity and grain structure. All Lapua cases are tested with 30 % over pressure according to C.I.P. regulations. Lapua cases can be reloaded a minimum of 10 times.
BTW, the case volume of Lapua is smaller, so you would have larger pressure with the same charge....

Lapua makes some high quality stuff. I've opened a fresh box of Lapua brass and loaded them straight up with no brass prep whatsoever and they shot excellent. Occasionally, you'll get a batch with dinged (non-concentric) mouths that need to be neck sized at least to get them round again. The brass life is high and the quality control is excellent.

It doensn't get better than Lapua. Even though Norma is more expensive, it honestly doesn't compare to Lapua.
