    Possible New Source For Primers

I was on the Widener's Website earlier and saw that Wolf is producing (or maybe just branding) MIL type primers for 5.56/.223. It looks like something along the line of the CCI #41's http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=7283

It looks like they have an entire line of primers from small rifle thru shotshell. http://www.wideners.com/itemview.cfm?dir=278|284|737

I can't find any info on them and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about them.

    Thanks,

    SDJim

    When it comes to ammunition...

Reloaded ammunition always gets made in America I saw some bullets the other day that caught my eye They were75gr match BTHP. When I looked closer I found out they were from SerbiaSorry, I don't need that in my life
    I won't be wronged
    I won't be insulted
And I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.....John Wayne

Todd Spotti, a friend of mine at who shoots at IFG and a part time gun writer, acquired some Wolf large rifle and small rifle primers. In his tests, he found the large rifle performed just as good as his Winchesters and CCI in his proven loads. But the small rifle primers did not perform well at all. I don't recall exactly what he used to test small rifle primers, but I'm sure he used a 6 or 6.5 TCU in an Remington XP and the group sizes opened up significantly, according to his statements over breakfast.

Personally, I'll stick with CCI and Winchester since that's all I've been using ever since I started handloading. Plus, the price difference between Wolf and CCI/Winchester is negligible.

Whoa there...I wouldn't say everyone. There are some that find the Russian primers give a low ES and SD with some loads. But a lot of guys over there have stocks of tens of thousands of 210M's that they're still using. BR2's are still popular as well. Powder Valley has the Wolf primers for a good price so it couldn't hurt to pick some up if you're already making an order. At least just to try.

Primers are probably one of the cheapest components of reloading process, yet it's one of the most important piece. So why pinch a penny? Regular CCI primers are not that expensive.
