    44 mag help

    I reload for rifles,not for pistols.What do i need for reloading pistol, 44 mag revolver,lead free.Thanks guys

    Same set up. Just get carbide dies, shell holder and you're all set since you have everything else. Its a real easy round to load for.

      looking at 44mag round i see two rolled crimps, one in the middle, one on top conn. which die makes the middle one.

        Don't sweat the lower "crimp" it is a factory locator for bullet depth -- all brass does not have that lower roll. Depending on several factors you may want or not want to crimp.

          For lead free, I'm going to assume you're going to use Barnes bullets, which are very long, and you shouldn't use load data for other bullets of the same weight. I've got some data that was sent to me directly from barnes. If you'd like it I can email it to or you could simply email barnes support, and request it.

            You dont really need any type of major crimp. It depends what you're reloading for though. If you are reloading for a heavy revolver like a 629 or blackhawk, you dont need much of a crimp if any. If you are shooting a rifle you will need somewhat of a crimp. If you are shooting an ultralight revolver like a 329pd, you will need a heavy crimp.
