Reloading .308/7.62mm

I'm picking up a bolt action .308 pretty soon. Does using 7.62 brass in a .308 bolt-action pose the same problems as using 5.56 in a bolt action .223?

Are .308/7.62 only interchangeable in multi-caliber/military rifles, or can I purchase bulk, once-fired, .308/7.62 military brass for use in a Remington 700?

Brass

I try to use special IMI Match brass, really anything will do. I do try to keep my 50rd box's all to one type of brass. So the rounds are about the same. The Remington is Special. It is more accurate than me. So it gets the best brass most of the time.

and so can the mil ammo. Done it for many years.

For .308 unless you size the brass very little, you aren't going to get more than a few reloads (2-5) out of them without that bright line appearing. From personal experience buying military 7.62 once-fired brass doesn't make economic sense.

I get about 4-5 reloads on the Military brass @ 44gr per. That's a long range load for .308. Also for the M1A I get about 5 reloads, but I'm using only 41.5gr for that load....WCC846 or 4895

On another note just check if the brass is Berdan Primed and Crimped...some things to look out for.

OH yes Berdan primed brass is a pain! especially when you dont realize snuck in till you break your de-primer.
