A tumbler is one of the cheaper reloading equip! Check the FA from midwayusa....

You can always put pet media + your brass into your drying machine.

Oh yeah. I linked to the Harbor Freight page to show their Rock Tumblers. They're similar to the Lortone rock tumblers which were once recommended to me. The containers are hard rubber and seal to contain liquid cleaning/tumbling solutions. The hard rubber also isn't as annoyingly loud as the vibratory tumblers.

            The Lortone's are pricey though
At Lortone we’ve been building durable, economical, rock tumblers, saws, polishing arbors, laps, and combination machines, for almost 40 years. Our tradition of using superior materials and workmanship continues to this day, using proven designs, premium steel and quality US construction.

Check out the local gun shows. I picked up a Lyman 3200 for $20. The thing works perfectly. Only problem was it had a cracked lid, but I fixed that with some MEK I had laying around.

I put my Midway tumbler inside one of those hinged-lid plastic storage boxes and then throw a furniture pad over it.
That quiets it WAY down, enough that it can run overnight and I can't even tell it's running without getting within about 5 feet of it.

If you are worried about the cost of electricity you could always rig up some kind of "Gilligan's Island" style wind powered tumbler. Or connect it to the wheel of your stationary exercise bike.

This guy rigged up his pet hamster's wheel to a paper shredder, so the hamster can make its own bedding material...

I don't see why the little guy couldn't tumble brass too.

Harbor freight rock tumbler and corn cob media from Petco or Petsmart, they use it for some kind of critter bedding. Cheap and works great.
I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

Now you just need to rig that up to a bicycle power harnessing unit, like the bicycle guys who go around and sharpen knives, you can pedal to run your tumbler and/or run a trim, chamfer, debur station on the handlebars. Or margarita blender when you aren't reloading.
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

The cheapest way is to just wipe them off (to save you dies). Next cheapest is hot water and soap. But if you want them shiney, tumbler and walnut shells is the way to go. You could always try putting the brass in an icecream maker with wanut shells.
