    NRA metallic reloading course

Anybody know if and when an NRA approved metallic reloading course in SoCal will take place? Or, do we have an NRA Instructor who will give the course somewhere south of the 10 Fwy in the near future? Any info would be helpful.

      NRA course experiences?

Has anyone taken any of the NRA courses? I'm in NoCal, and looking into some courses they offer here in the Bay Area, most especially the reloading. I want to know if they're worth the cost? Metallic reloading $195 for 1 day course...

Curious - why the need to PM - can't you let the rest of the group know?

I have a friend who teaches the NRA courses and the reloading course is one that I would like to take. Maybe I can get him to schedule a class for Calgunners and we can get a group discount or something? He usually uses a classroom in Livermore, so if anyone is interested in doing the class let me know. I would guess early next month would be a good time to plan for.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

For SoCal folks, call ASR's reloading store for info.

                    Dumb questions but what's ASR?

Sorry to ask but what does ASR mean? I'm in So Cal (Murrieta) and would like to someday teach reloading but I understand that the basic course must be taken first, then I can apply for an Instructor's course. Anybody know this or anything different?

To be a NRA instructor you have to complete their Instructor course and one other discipline, i.e. Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun. This is a two day process. Usually runs about $200-300 depending where you go. After you have your NRA instructor certificate you can complete the Metallic/Shotshell Loading course and Range Safety Officer course ON-LINE for very little money. A "regular" NRA Instructor can not give you the Instructor course, you have to go to a NRA Training Counselor.
