    Brass Question

I am not into reloading yet. I want to start reloading but I think I am at least 1 year away from getting into it (moving soon).

I have been saving all my brass and have been thinking about selling some of it. And I have been picking up spent brass left behind. The thing is, I have no idea what it is worth.

    I have about 400 of .45 ACP
    I have 240 of .40 S&W
    I have about 1500 of 9mm Lugar

What would be a fair price to sell these at? They have not been cleaned. They have been sorted and somewhat inspected. I found a few that were split. The split ones have been thrown in the recycle bucket.

Some of the brass is once fired. I can't speak for all of it. Most of it looks really good.

Or maybe I would be open to trade it for some reloaded brass. What would be a fair trade ratio? 1 reload for 2 shells? Or 1:3? Or 1:4? 1:5?

    Thanks for the help.

if you want it to move go 2 cents each for 9 and 40 and 4 cents each for 45

if you feel like waiting a couple weeks charge double

no one in their right mind would trade you reloads for brass its just too much liability worry even if i do everything perfect and your gun has a malfunction not even related to the loads ;what is the first thing to blame?

Check out the Calguns "Private Ammo & Reloading Sales" section. I recall a seller named 'Eat Dirt' that is always selling brass. I've never bought from him, but several people in this forum have dealt with him before. I don't know if his prices are high or low, but you should check out the other brass sellers in that forum for an idea of what your brass is worth.

Here are his prices for comparison:
      9 MM ...... 400 Rounds /// 22.00
      9 MM ...... 1,000 Rounds /// 40.00
      .40 .......... 300 Rounds /// 22.00
      .40 .......... 1000 Rounds /// 40.00
      .45 ACP ........ 300 Rounds /// 25.00

Off the top of my head, you have about $100-$110 worth of brass there. You could sell it or sit on it until you're ready to reload. If you have to rebuy it later then it will just make startup that much harder.
