    Does anybody Swage bullets here?

I have been wanting to starting casting bullets and have been getting a supply of pure lead as well as wheel weights. I have melted them down into ingots for later use. It seems like sawging would be the way to go. Seems like you would get better bullets than casting would. Plus you can do jacketed bullets as well as change the weight of the bullet with the same die. I was just thinking about getting the die set that can be used in most single stage reloading presses. I will be reloading .40 S&W. Anybody have any ideas or more information on this topic.
    Thanks

Leading will be a problem at typical 40 S&W pressures and velocities.
    Casting produces a harder bullet.

Swaging is really only good for low velocity wadcutters in 38's or for shotgun slugs and blackpowder bullets.

ar15 thanks for the resposne. I am just looking for a cheaper way to shoot with leading problems. Does the hardness of the lead matter when you swage jacketed bullets?

To get around lead fouling, swage jackets out of used .22lr brass

            Not really, jacket controls hardness.

Gooble 'corbin swage' , go to Corbin's website. Tons of swaging stuff.

You can make VERY uniform bullets. Tooling is $$$ more than casting. Labor is lower, once you're tooled. Need a different bullet, get more tooling.

Thanks everyone for help. Paradox...You said you can make jackets out of old .22 shells. Is that for any caliber?

I don't think you can swage with hard lead like wheelweights.
You swage with pure lead which is nearly dead soft.

                  Check out Precision Bullets.

I use their 200gr SWC .451 and their 185 gr .400. Good stuff. Inexpensive. Fairly easy to clean.

I am having some fouling build-up in my XD40 though, which I don't get in my 1911s. But from some of the bore pictures I see on the web, the type of fouling I'm seeing isn't uncommon. I need to get some kind of glass beaker or cylinder so I can soak the barrel in Kroil.
