    Discrepancy in Data

So I'm reloading .50AE with Viht. N110. If I go on the Vihtavuori website and look at their reloading data (http://www.vihtavuori-lapua.com/pdfs...-Data-2006.pdf) it says that the N110 powder should have a starting load of 25.3 and a max load of 28.7 (300 grain bullet).

If I go to the Speer Reloading Manual #14 for the .50AE it says a start charge of 28.0 with a max charge of 29.0.

So... I realize you always want to start with the min charge but in this case the min charges are 25.3 vs. 28.

Which is the better path to go? The Speer reloading manual or the data from the powder manufacturer?

    HELP!

Always best to find 3 different sources and average them. In this case I'm sure if you went with 26.7gr nothing bad would happen.

Also keep in mind that different sources use different barrels/guns/brass/primers/temperatures/elevations, all things that can lead to different outcomes.

It depends on the firearm used to test the data. VV uses a test barel. Speer uses an actual handgun. A 25gr starting load may not cycle a DE reliably, but it would be fine for a Freedom Arms revolver.

xdRox - I shoot at American shooting center most weekends. I also have a lyman reloading manual but they don't have n110 as an option so still need to find another source I guess.

J-Cat - the test revovler for the speer manual was a DE. on the powder manufacturer site they say the test barrel was a 6" with 1 in 19" twist. I'll have to check to see if that is the exact spec of a de.
