Advice for lead free .243

if you're going to hunt in condor zone, you have to use approved non-lead ammo. Let me see if I can find the link.

Just about any lead free bullets will be fine. Just use head shots. Preferable ear and eye shots. Kill the brain. Dont damage any meat with body shots.

Use the Federal 85 in .243 or hand her my 30-06.

I am aware of the lead free issue - that is why I said I'm looking for larger LEAD FREE bullets. I think head shots sound great and maybe feasible if close in but for my wife's debut, I do not want to push the envelope. Too easy to "miss" a vital spot and have a wounded animal etc and make it into not good experience for all. What I decided was that since there really isn't anything over 90gr in lead free .243, she will carry her .243 loaded with Federal 85gr lead free that she likes and I'll carry my 30-06 with Federal 110 and 165 gr lead free. If the hog she draws down on is bigger than 100+ lbs, I'll give her my '06 to shoot. She can practice at the range with the '06 using Remington's 125 gr Managed Recoil loads that are really sweet - recoil is like a .243 but they are not lead free. But using that at the range willl let her be comfortable handling and firing the '06. If/when she shoots at a bigger hog with the '06, I'm sure she'll be too excited to notice the stronger recoil from the full loaded '06 ammo pushing the Barnes 110 or 165. Anyway, that is my plan for the time being.
