    Hornady .308 150 oal problem

I remember reading something similar to this a while ago but cant find it.

This is strange. I seat the boolit to 2.800 and the canelure groove is still over 1/8 inch away from the neck. I double checked two refrences and it calls one for 2.275, the other 2.800 but the canelure is still long ways off. So much that I know if I seated it to the canelure the volume of the case would be much less which would effect pressure. Anybody hear about this before?

The boolit; Hornady 150 gr fmjbt .308" #3037
scharch lc case mic's at 2.004
min trim to length is 2.005 so cases are good.

I'll call Hornady tomorrow and see what they say.

If you are going to crimp, seat to middle of cannalure, if not seat to mag length. Yes pressure will be affected but that is just one thing you need to accout for.

I have some of those bullets and the cannelur is completely different from bullet to bullet. I decided not to use them and use some 155 SMKs instead.
