It is fine to do so.

I prefer a small mark on the bottom of a case for counting how many times i have reloaded a case. Of course all of mine only have one mark on them right now.

I would not write peoples names on it, especially names of politicians.

Yes it is ok to use Sharpie on Brass. I use 3 colors.
I use it on my 38 Supercomp rimless brass, So I can see and pickup after shooting an IPSC stage. After tumbling the brass, it comes out new again.

You know that's not a bad idea. I've been looking for an easy way to find my brass at my local indoor range where there's usually cases spread everywhere. A little magic marker on the cases or sharpie and my life becomes a lot easier.

It's not a bumb question. It's perfectly fine to do so. I use to make a ring around my brass and shotgun hulls so I can identify them easier when there on the ground. All I do now is make a red sharpie mark over the primer now because it's easy to do when there in an ammo box.

I like to mark the primers, red for hot magnum loads.
