Old Ammo I found

Hello to all,

I found some old ammo made by Sellier & Bellot that in a pale soft green box that I had stashed away. They all look very clean and fresh but I wonder if it's considered to be steel cuz it looks just like Wolf ammo and my shooting range won't let me shoot any steel. It's also labeled non-corrosive which make me happy ALSO I have some Norinco ammo in a silver box that labeled to be non-corrosive and steel cased BUT is lead cored bullet. How about this???

Put a magnent to it...most S&B is brass.

the norinco is magnetic. that i know. more info is needed about the SB ammo.

The caliber is 7.62X39 ammo that an EASY 10 years ago when AK's were all the rage and a box of 20 rounds cost only $3.22/box! This also includes the ammo "Norinco" ammo/Silver box

During those times wether it was steel or not I bought it and burned it fairly quickly as long as it was non-corrosive. Besides that during that time the ranges were much more friendly about it. It's just that steel shell is what they didn't care for cuz they scooped it up and re-loaded it for range consumption.

OK the S & B is in a plain paper box and has a pale green/blue color. Inside the ammo/bullet itself is very clean looking and resembles to look just like the current production Wolf that is produced. When this ammo was bought Wolf ammo didn't exist then so when I say 10 years it is an EASY 10 years!!! Maybe more.

Both brands are printed non-corrosive but the S & B says nothing about wether it being steel or not. The Norinco ammo is printed "steel cased, lead core".

Thank you for your time. All I want is to shoot for zeroing purposes and check reliability.

Thanks for your imput. I think overall I'll just have to do that. It's just too bad my range isn't more flexible.

Sellier & Bellot uses copper washed steel jackets on most (if not all) of their jacketed projectiles.

I have some S&B 223 that I bought 10 years ago. It came in a light green box. It is steel cased and most likely steel core. When you put a magnet to the bullet it really sticks. I have other 223 that is lead core steel jacket and they don't stick as much. They are a lot easier to pull from the magnet.

Thanks for your posting but no matter it looks like Angeles won't allow this brand S & B to be shot at there range. What a shame on my part cuz it's extremly clean and fresh looking just like my Wolf ammo which isn't allowed either.
