    Looking for .40 S&W recipes

Hey, I've been searching but decided to just ask. I have one recipe I have been sticking to and want to try more, plus I am kind of tired of Alliant Blue Dot. What do you guys load?? Thanks!

    I have been loading .40 S&W
155 Gr Berrys plated RD HB
    8.2 grns Alliant Blue Dot
    CCI sp primers
mixed brass (one brand of brass per session)
Cant remember OAL off the top of my head. (I'll look it up after work)

I feel the Blue Dot has more punch than I want. These loads have been accurate and fun to shoot. I just want to see what everyone else has. Anyways love the .40!

        Those Wolf Primers

The Wolf primers are usually available at a good price. I have been avoiding them however until I can determine if anyone is having corrosion issues with them. Have you (or any readers of this) had corrosion problems with the Wolf small pistol primers?

One of my favorite recipes is 5.0gr of WST.
          It works in 9mm, 45, and 40

I have not noticed. I have shot close to 600 reloads. I believe the box says non corrosive.

bluedot seems ro take the most powder. the lyman book goes 8.2-9.2 with 155 grain projo's. the alliant website says start 10 -11 grains. i used 8.5 grains and had good result but i noticed some blue dot that didnt fire. powerpistol is good and 231. next up is titegroup

                To All,

I saw this post was pretty close to what I'm trying to find. Does anyone have a recipe for 155grain Berry's flat plate bullets and IMR 700x. I'm new to reloading and was able to get the 700x and received 250 of the Berry's bullets for Christmas. I'm trying to see if I can make them work together for my 40 S&W.

Make Right With a “.40 Lite”

Below, 50 rounds Rainier plated 165 grain bullets, 231 powder and ".40 Lite loads"
(also see Speer manual and 165 grain reduced law enforcement loads or .40 Lite loads)

If one is new to .40 loads, there's a couple of things to think about. Pay close attention to OAL. Pressures go up very quickly as the bullet is seated deeper. The bullets are fairly heavy for the powder volume in this case. Some of the quicker powders like 700X, 231, etc - I would not suggest maximum loads until you are sure of what you are doing. Powders that are a little slower work well in .40 - Blue Dot is fairly slow. AA#5, Unique, WSF have all been used quite a bit in .40. Find a burn rate chart and become familiar with it.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

5.1 grains of WST. CCi primers. Mixed Brass. 1.165 OAL. Makes major. Little snappy but very fast back on target.

3.8 grains of 700x with 180 Lead TC bullet. Makes USPSA PF of ~140. Smokes like an old choo-choo.

I also use VVN320 and 200 Lead TC bullets. Loaded to USPSA Major PF. This is a great combo for a softer, less smokey lead bullet load.
