New to reloading... Having an issue...

No Bad Advice given so far. But I had the same experience with my 6mm PPC. Problem was....I had a Redding Full Length Die...and an RCBS Shell Holder. Now that's a problem. I just wanted to make sure you got matching Dies and Shell Holders.

The Press goes to the Die...no matter where you set the die...but the dimension between the Top of the Shell Holder and the Bottom (Seat) where the Brass sits is different for all manufacturers. Each Manufacturer knows their particular dimensions....and the make their stuff to work together.

I got an RCBS Full Length Die to go with me RCBS Shell Holder...and that fixed the problem.

I agree with FLIGHT762. I believe the shoulders need to be bumped down a little. Make sure the bottom of the resizing die touches the top of the shell holder when resizing. That will likely fix/correct the problem.

Odds are you are not sizing the cases down enough (bumping the shoulder back enough). Try turning your sizing die in (clockwise) 1/12th or 1/24th at a time, resize the brass fired in the other rifle until it chambers in your rifle.

You are not going to be able to see the difference with the naked eye on the shoulders since bumping the shoulder (sizing a bit more) another .005" or .010" is a pretty fine measurement. This may cure your issue.

There are tools that can measure the fine differences, but you don't have to have them. You can do it the described way. It takes a little time and patience, but it works.

Well, here is what i figured out... not much. I can't seem to make the shell holder actually touch the die when sizing a shell. Maybe a .025 gap between the two. Why can't it go all the way in? Also, I tried the whole mark the shell and see where it touches in the chamber thing... they are hitting/getting stuck? about a quarter inch from the base of he shell... which is where there is a little line around the case that was left after sizing. Is it normal to see a line around the case there?

I figured it out. I am a genius... not really... just persistent. Thanks for all of the input. It was actually just the sizing die not being adjusted properly. It seems that a very small amount of turning the die in or out makes a huge difference. Found the sweet spot after numerous adjustments and they all now chamber just as smooth as factory loaded shells... Thanks again, Randy
