I use 6.0 grains of Trailboss with a 200 grain bullet for cowboy shooting with 44 mag. It is very accurate and recoil is quite mild. It makes about 800 fps from a revolver.

For lighter loads, Trailboss is hard to beat. It is a very safe and economical powder to use for cowboy/target loads.

I'm a big fan of the Penn Bullets 185gr wadcutter for target loads.

        Can't wait.

        Thanks guys, appreciate the advice.

I have some Trailboss on order from PV.

I will give the Penn wadcutters a try, I had not found any wadcutters other than Berry's up till now. It will be a while for the Penn's though as the mailman just delivered my first 1000 240 gr. SWC's from Missouri.

I won't have the gun till this time next week, so a day after that powder arrives, I will be all dressed up with no where to go.

It may sound different from most opinions. But give Herco a try. A friend gave me a bunch of it and I loaded up some 240 semi wad cutters with it. I do not remember the charge but I can look it up in a while. Very mild recoil and very accurate out of a 629 4 inch

Something like 10gr sound about right for 1100fps? Thanks.

I read somewhere that Alliant doesn't recommend magnum primers with their flake powders. Does anyone use magnum primers in any of their .44 loads?

I load the 260gr GC with magnum cases, federal primer and 8.0 gr of W231 in my 29-2 6.5", great target load.

Yes, CCI-350's for me. Deagle requires 'em.

Regular LP for anything I'd call a target load. H110 is really one of the few powders that need the magnum primers, but YMMV.

Horsecrap. I've lit most of an 8lb keg of H110 off using WLP primers. Not a single misfire.

You mean these WLP marked for standard or magnum pistol loads?

As above, WLP does magnum duty just fine.

Non-magnum primers won't result in a misfire, just less than full efficiency with that powder.

                              Thanks guys.

No amount of planning will ever replace dumb luck. When I placed my order with PV for all my .44 stuff, they were out of CCI LP, so I ordered 3000 WLP. Looks like I am set.

Federal, Winchester and Magtech. All lit the H110 without a problem. H110 doesn't like to be downloaded though and non-magnum primers might be more sensitive. Almost all the loads have been 24 grains under a 240 grain bullet with a good snug crimp.
