    case mouth expanding

I'm working on my first ever reloads so as you can tell I'm green as the grass. I'm reloading .45 with cast 230 gn. bullets. So my question is when using the expander die, do you adjust it so the case mouth is expanded until the bullet just barely slides in, but won't stay put with finger presser? Or do you expand the case mouth enough, that you can seat the bullet by finger presser so that it stays put? All help is greatly appreciated.

Expand the case mouth enough to keep the bullet from catching on the mouth of the case. The press has plenty of leverage and power to seat the bullet. Too much expanding and the case mouth becomes prone to cracking prematurely on subsequent loads.

      THis..

Just do enough so that when you place the bullet, it'll hold.

So just enough that the bullet gets past the case mouth but not enough that it stays put if held upside down. Got it. Thanx
