    7.62x39 identification request

    Could any kind soul help with my confusion here.

    From what i can find out the 14 would suggest Hungarian manufacture, although the information i can dig up also says that Hungary did not manufacture steel core in this calibre.
    Any insights would be extremely helpful.

        Insufficient information to identify the ammo's point of origin.

            Ok! Want to put the above in understandable English, and how is this relevant to the topic?

                A picture of the headstamp would help, and you still have not answered the question why
                this information is so important to you?

                  Unfortunately there are no photos of the headstamps available, all the crime scene photos were destroyed in 2002, all that is left is written descriptions.

                  As for the importance, ok ill give;
                  I am one of the people trying to put together this website

                  It has always been assumed that the pair used AP ammo, this assumption came about because of one police officer who was under fire said he THOUGHT that it was AP being shot at him.
                  I would like to be able either prove or disprove this particular piece of information, just for the sake of accuracy in telling the story.
                  Unfortunately its almost impossible to photograph the headstamps of the ammunition casings on display in the museum so i went back to the FBI files and bought the information here to people who I am sure have a damn sight more knowledge than myself.
