Do you guys reload when it's wet out?

I used to know an old fart that was a bit of fenatic when it came to his loads and used to tell me not to get my powders exposed to any moisture or reloading in the damp area and even in the garage when it's raining out.

Exposing the powder to moisture is one thing but not loading when it's raining? Really??

Let's take a cartridge of .308 Winchester. 3.64 ml empty volume.
Lets fill it with 90% Varget (lots of air space, lets guess 5%), that puts about .22ml total air in the case.

If you were reloading at 100% relative humidity at 68F in the garage, you would be adding about 4-1/4 micrograms of water into the cartridge. That translates to 1 drop of water spread out over 11,000 cartridges (calculations available on request)

I would be much more concerned about keeping my dies and press cleaned and well protected from rust than about the additional humidity in the air.

Think about those folks in the south and east who reload in those humid summers, much more water content in the air than CA in the winter. Of course they are in free territory where they can pick up ammunition at the local 5 and dime without going through a criminal background check. All we get is legalized pot.
