    Higher Ammo Prices!

FYI...Got this from another forum. I know, no surprise. I'm sure you guys who reload have seen primers, powder, etc. go up as well. Sign of the times I guess.

My simple plan is buy now instead of paying allot more later. JMHO.

Here's a letter the gun shop sent out. They got this from the company that supplies all their ammo.

    June 20, 2007

    Dear ATK Ammunition Customer:

Over the last two years the cost of manufacturing and shipping ammunition products has continued to escalate to unprecedented levels. These cost changes require ATK to announce a 15% price increase for all ammunition brands and a 25% increase on select .223 promotional ammunition.

This new pricing will take effect September 1, 2007, on all new orders and all existing orders that have not yet shipped. New pricing and programs will be sent shortly.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation throughout this process.

This makes me wish I had bought I lifetime supply of ammo back a few years ago when it was so cheap.

Oh, wait a minute. I did buy a lifetime supply of ammo a few years ago!

My contention is that most of this is tight supply due to the war - producers are running at 100%. Sure, raw material prices are going up but I don't think it's making that much of a difference. I think right now it's pure supply and demand. Buying extra when prices are high is the wrong thing to do.

Ammo prices (like housing prices and the stock market) fluctuate. But every time there's an increase people panic and think "It's never going down! Buy now!"

Stockpiling ammo (at todays high prices) purely to try and beat the market isn't very smart in my opinion. Of course there ARE plenty of other excellent reasons to stockpile ammo

you guys should reload, you will break out within 1 year and have tons of ammo to shoot. it will take a good amount of $$$ to start out though.

While Amendment II's ammo collection is pretty impressive and could be considered a lifetime supply. Also he doesn't pad his ammo count by including .22. But he makes damn sure it'll last a a lifetime by never going shooting.
