5 of the 8 types of ammo they have on that first link are rifle ammo...

Buy reloading gear and get started, folks! An entire single-stage kit w/ tumbler and calipers can be bought for less than $250. Even a Lee Classic Turret Press is not that expensive.

February 1, 2011 is now very, very close.

EDIT: Hey, just noticed this was post #500! Cool!

Huh - thought it only applied to handgun ammo.
Thank god this ban will keep the terrorists out of Commiefornia.

It does. However, the executives at some companies might not want to risk getting extradited to Kalifornia if some overzealous prosecutor "deems", for example, .223 Remington as "handgun ammo" since it can and is used in AR-pattern handguns.

If it were me, I'd take a Ronnie Barrett-esque position and simply not sell ANY ammo to California. It just ain't worth possible jail time, and sooner or later, you've gotta take a stand somewhere. Cheaper Than Dirt has said they will not ship ANY ammo to California come January 2011.

I really wish I was in a position to move out of California.

I mean I can ALLWAYS move. just everything is a trade off. right now keeping the job I have is worth more than moving and being able to purchase ammo.

However if I can ever find a job like mine with a pay raise in Arizona, or Colorado or Oregon or Washington. I will probably seriously consider it.

Of course on the other hand I have a son in college, his first year. and moving out of state would be problematic with the family.

If I were by myself and did not have a family to take into consideration, I would have been gone years ago.

But eventually California will push hard enough, or I will get lucky and I will be out of this piece of crap state and its stupid liberal brain dead politics and laws

On a side not, I just did spent a crap load of money on reloading equipment and supplies.

I can reload every caliber I own.

Is this going to affect the purchase of reloading supplies such as powder and bullets and such?

As far as I'm concerned, if Cabela's wants to go along with the B.S., and not take the time to fully learn the details of AB 962, then it's on them. Let us all order from their competition who are willing to send to us. At least the others are aware of what it takes to send to California. Maybe they have made enough money "over the years" to not want to continue business.

Instead of working to provide ways to continue to sell to us, they want to wring us out of our last hard-earned dollars by encouraging us send them our money before AB 962 goes into effect.

Sorry, Cabela's. If I'm going to stock up before AB 962 goes into effect, I'm going to send my money to a website who will continue to serve me after Feb 1, 2011.

                  To: Cabela's California Customers
                  From: Cabela's Communications
                  Subject: California Assembly Bill 962
                  Date: Nov. 30, 2010

On Oct. 11, 2009, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Assembly Bill 962, legislation that will restrict purchases of handgun ammunition in California, and will prohibit California residents from buying handgun ammunition through catalog and Internet vendors.

AB 962 will become law statewide Feb. 1, 2011. If you have any immediate handgun-ammunition purchases you'd like to be able to make using the convenience of Cabela's catalog phone center (800-237-4444) or our website (www.cabelas.com), we encourage you to act quickly. All orders for in-stock handgun ammunition shipped to Cabela's customers in California must be placed by Jan. 21, 2011, at 9 p.m. CST, and must be delivered by Jan. 31, 2011, to conform with the new regulations contained in AB 962.
In addition to banning catalog and Internet sales of handgun ammunition, AB 962 will:

                  * Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale, or the display of handgun ammunition in a manner that allows it to be accessible without assistance of an employee.
                  * Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or tranferor being provided bona fide evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.

That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:

                  * The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee.
                  * The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred.
                  * the purchaser's or transferee's full residential address and telephone number.
                  * The purchaser's or transferee's date of birth.

We appreciate the support of our many valuable California shooting-sports customers over the years, and regret that we will no longer be able to provide them with handgun ammunition through catalog or Internet sales after Jan. 21, 2011.

Try Palmetto Armory. They have good prices, but don't know if they have AB962 info up. The longer I live in this state the more I want to get out.

Sportsmansguide.com usually has really good deals on ammo, especially surplus.
Use coupon code SG1316 for $15 off a purchase of $150.
This code works whether or not you join their club.

You can join their club for $30 and get discounts on their pricing. On the first purchase, if you do it right they will offer you double discounts and free shipping. First you need to find everything that you want to buy and open a separate tab for each item. Then add one item to the cart and hit checkout. Go through the checkout until they make the club offer. It should say "double discount" and "free shipping". If you have too many items in your cart they will offer you less of an incentive to join. After you hit 'sign me up', you will see the cart with the discounts applied. Go to your other tabs and add the items to your cart. Go to the cart, hit checkout, and enter the discount code above. Then continue the checkout relatively quickly. If you take too long they may make a new offer with less of a discount.

If you do it right you will get 10% off everything, free UPS shipping, and $15 off the order. The drawback is that you have to pay $30 for the club, but you still come out ahead. On a $150 order, you basically get free shipping. On a $300 order, you save $15 and get free shipping.

On subsequent orders, you still get 5% off and you can use the coupon, but you have to pay for shipping. At least their shipping fees are low compared to some other online retailers.

It may be cheaper to just use the coupon above and skip the club. Just run it a couple times before you finalize the order.

All have not gotten any business from me in over three years, because they have no idea of local law for ammo shipping. Each ban to my county but there is not a county ordinance against receiving ammo. So, Silver State, Ammo Man and Able Ammo are a few I've turned to.
Got to repeal the law someday.
