    25-284 anyone???

I have a dilemma I am going to rechamber one of my barrels to this round and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I know what it is and what I can get out of it so basically I would like to know would it be better to use 6.5-284 brass or would plain 284 brass work as good? I'm leaning on the 6.5 so not to stress the brass so much?. My current chamber is 250 AI... thanks

It depends on the reamer dimensions. The 284 brass will leave you with a thicker neck. Try a couple of dummy rounds with both types of brass and see which one fits your chamber better. Ideally the chamber neck dimension would be about .002" larger in diameter than the loaded round to just give you enough room to release the bullet without slop in the chamber.

Thanks, Fjold ... ideally I think the 6.5 should fit quite nice. Seems not to be many wildcatters around anymore? certainly hope this is not a sign of the times.

Unless you design a cartridge from the case up it's difficult to come up with something new. Just about every existing case has been necked up or down, shoulders have been pushed forward and back, angles sharpened, etc. already because there are just too many people doing it now.

True, what I meant was there are not many who shoot the old cartridges some of witch are as good as the new ones.
