75 Rounds of Freshly made 10MM...

I finally got my 550B set up enough to run some 10MM. This 550B was purchased by me back in 1994; never opened the box (wife got ill;we moved) so it and a bunch of other GUN stuff went into storage. (including a hardly used Dillon 1050 set up for .45 auto)

Being that my middle daughter is in her last year of college and my youngest has an interest in shooting (at 13 she can field strip her Glock 17; lock, load and fire ) (her GLOCK was built in 1992.. ) And one of my new interests was getting the GLOCK 20 running this last summer...I suddenly found out 10MM was very RARE and EXPENSIVE....so rare I simply could not find it anywhere; unless it was a gun show or Ammo Brothers...even then I wanted something more than 'Range Ammo' which to me seemed like shooting .40--- (which is ok, except I already have several 40s; I wanted to shoot 10MM..)!

So my man-cave-workshop-airplane-factory had an empty table just large enough for my 2 Dillon machines. The problem with the 550B after I opened the box had a new set of dies inside for .308 rifle....arrg..so I bought some new .40/10mm dies....also in the 16 year span, several new options became available for the 550B....a metal Hi mount Stand..and an electric case feeder..had to have them. Went over to the STOCKADE (nice bunch) and bought them. Also ordered a conversion kit in .40/10mm...from dillon. (very nice bunch)...like a DUMMY I missed a few items but got the machine up and running (without the case feeder...I forgot to order the plastic adaptor on the bottom of the plastic tube; it's on its way tomorrow from dillon)

But I decided to set up the dies, install what I could and load some 10MM last night. My daughter decided to be the Bullet Feeder; worked out just fine.

I weighed the charge every 10 rounds....perfect at 10 grains.

    Here is the load:

    Starline Case
    CCI Large pistol primers
155 Grain copper plated RNFT bullets (Extreme..?)
    10 grains of AA #5
1340 FPS (according to the AA manual and some info from Mike at DoubleTap)
    OAL 1.250

Forgive the mess; I plan to organize and clean up after the fresh parts for the Dillon 1050 are installed. Maybe today.

I was talking to Mike over at Dillon Precision; He said they have noticed a BUMP in orders from California. We all know why, don't we..

    75 Rounds of fresh 10MM

Both Dillon machines...actually the 550B is TALLER than the 1050...(?)

Damn how many Glock's do you have! lol
-- I love the mythological significance given to Dum Dum Bullets. As if they're little tactical nukes, stacked up in "Assault Clips" ready to be "sprayfired" "from the hip" by pistol grip equipped "bullet hoses" instead of early variations of the softpoint bullets people have been using to take game with (and use for self-defense) for the last century.

Very nice!!! I just got my Dillon 550B and am loading .40 and will be loading some real 10mm load soon....waiting on starline brass to ship...and will probably get a whole new tool head set up for 10mm....don't like having to readjust my dies and powder.......

"I weighed the charge every 10 rounds....perfect at 10 grains".

I found that the Dillon Powder Measure and the smooth shape of #5 together throws powder charges so consistently it is boring spot-checking the throws.

I must tell you... i'm envious of your man-cave. And your pile-o'-glocks.... I also think I see 7 long guns there? Looks like a Home defence special 870, a Rem700 of some kind, and a couple others.

I helped a friend load some 10mm using Blue Dot in a standard RCBS powder thrower, and it came out remarkably consistent... so long as we didn't tap it clear with every throw. By saving time we increased consistency, and this was measuring every single throw for a while just to be sure ( when nearing max load, it pays to be cautious).

                          Mods to my Glock 20s

Well...I own 3 new Glock 20s and one Glock 29. I feel the GLOCK 20 is the perfect SHTF weapon. Besides gearing up to load 10MM I have added a few mods.
                          1. I have a .40 Lonewolf barrel 6 inch for shooting less expensive ammo. It's a drop in and fits in all my GLOCK 20s.

                          2. I have a 21 pound Spring with stainless rod for hot ammo. Although today I ran 60 rounds of 155gr/ 1350 FPS thru my G20 with the normal factory 17 pound spring/plastic rod. No issues. No FTF and No FTE. It ran perfectly.

                          3. On one of the GLOCK 20s I have a KKM normal length barrel and TRU-GLO combo night sites. Also this weapon has the 3.5 pound connector and extended slide release.

                          4. On one I have the aluminum extended button Mag release..I will probably remove it. Too big..haha

                          5. On my Black G20 for fun I installed an extended 6 inch barrel in 9X25 caliber. Also installed a mount and red dot scope; zeroed for 150 yards; the normal sites can also be used. This is a fun round that moves at 2000 FPS.
It's the weapon in my Avatar.

                          6. I have lots of 15 round rebuilt prebans as well. On some I added the 5 round extension for 20 rounds available. The .40 and 9X25 rounds work normally in the stock 10MM magazines. (just a barrel change)

                          7. On my Glock 29 I run a 15 round Mag with grip extension and a StormLake extended barrel for reloads in lead. I tryed that barrel for the first time today and it didn't work well at all. I will be installing the normal GLOCK barrel until I can figure out what's up with the STORMLAKE barrel. I suspect it's too tight. My Lonewolf and KKM barrels run perfect by the way.

                          ***

Lonewolf barrel in .40...a nice way to make the G20 more usable.

                          Glock 29 with doubletap ammo

Glock 20 with 9X25 barrel, red dot and 20 round magazine.

I will be putting one of those 6" barrels on my G20....Don't like the Lonewolf on the barrel so may go with the KKM. I hope KKm comes ported......Also going with the Ghost site on the rear and something bright on the front....will work on the trigger as well......going to get mine on Friday
