What kind of ammo is this?

The bullet has an interesting shape.

Is this safe to use in a 1911?

That looks like a semi-wadcutter bullet.

Well, I hope it feeds nicely. I got 1,000 rounds of this stuff. It's Ultramax re-manufactured (once-fired brass) 200 grain. I was just surprised to see the bullet shape when the package arrived.

      Thanks for the replies.

All I shoot in 45ACP are 200gr SWC from Precision Bullets.

All I can say is that stuff wouldn't feed through my 1911, but I do have to admit that mine is very picky. I only use round nose FMJ because that's the only way it functions perfectly. Good luck!

cycle it in your 1911. if it won't cycle, don't use it. wadcutters needs shorter oal to work correctly.

That looks like a standard 200 grain semi-wadcutter. I've been using them since 1981 or so in multiple 1911's. If your gun won't feed them you need to get the feed ramp cut for it as you'll probably not feed hollow points 100% either. So many 1911's I see won't feed anything except hardball and I can't understand why people limit themselves to that.

I had my 1911's cut to feed everything from hollowpoints to semi-wadcutters to ball ammo.

Semi-wadcutter. I like them because they make nice round holes with sharp edges (on the target). The holes are a little easier to see when you're shooting paper, compared to hardball holes.
