    Depriming pin broke!!!

Am I the ****tiest reloader or what? Just as I thought I had everything set and figured out, on my 17th case, my deprimer decided to snap and the pin gets bent. I was only loading 223 non military brass. WTF? Went to Field Time and they said they will call Hornady to get a replacement.

My question....as for now, can I use my 22-250 depriming pin in my .223 resizer/deprimer? Are they essentially the same?

Why don't you put them side by side and compare?

Yes you can. Also if you contact Hornady(the die maker) they will send you all new parts for free. Ask for an extra pin while you are at it. RCBS will also send you free replacements. Lee will not.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

If you mean Lee will not send extra free spares, maybe. If you mean Lee will not replace a broken pin, untrue. I broke my .223 depriming pin 2 weeks after buying the die set while trying to remove a stuck case the wrong way.

I sent the pin to Lee with a letter of explanation and they promptly sent me a replacement pin for free.

Going forward if your brass/die was lined up correctly you are going to have to look out for Berdan cases. Either learn to stop them by feel, press feels like it's running into a hard stop, or you will have to hand sort.

Don't get too frustrated this is all part of the learning curve. Wait till you smash a primer and it ignites in your face.

I busted the decapping pin on one of my RCBS dies.
I called the nice folks at RCBS and they mailed me about 6 spares, no charge.

Lee will replace any broken parts for up to 2 years with no charge. Lee probably wont send you 'extra' decapping pins since they don't break unless someone is using it wrong.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

+1 Lee has sent me a bunch of free stuff-

I broke my decapping pin because one brass had a small stone wedged in it.
The angle of the stone was such that it deflected the pin to one side with no notable "excess force" on the handle.
Sometimes s**t happens and it was nice of RCBS to send extras...

I've broken two. RCBS I did nothing wrong I just think it was fatigued. The Lee I rammed into a berdain priomed case. Both were replaced free-

I have broken de-capping pins on every brand of .223 die except Dillon. RCBS have the wimpiest de-capping pin I have ever seen, but Lee aren't much better.

Compare the Dillon de-capping pin construction against any other brand and I am sure you will see what I mean

I broke my RCBS decapping pin, they sent me a new decapping rod with the newer style decapping pins, and 5 extra pins.

I didn't even notice a difference when lowering the arm, but when I broght it back up the pin was completely folded over the rod. Ruined the case I was working on lol. Swapped it for my .30-30 rod for a while until RCBS hooked me up.

Dillon does not replace Decapping pins for free, they consider them consumable.

Never broke a Dillon de-capping pin even decapping crimped primer military brass. Even had a rock in a pistol case get smashed to bits by the Dillon de-capping pin. It took a lickin' and just kept on tickin' :-)

Methinks Dillon doesn't need a warranty on their de-capping pins because of how robust they are.

Well you guys have had better luck with Lee than I. They wanted me to send in the broken parts along with the reciept and it had to be bought within a certain time frame. By the time it was done it wae cheaper just to buy the parts or item such as their auto-prime. The GI punch and holder is quarr for life so called but you must send in the old with a reciept to get a new one. Cheaper just to buy another. Not to mention I rarely keep the reciepts for my stuff.

RCBS and Hornady all I have done is called and quickly I got another and/or spares. This is even true of dies(and other items) that I bought used and/or screwed up due to my own stupidity. Plus they are forever(real lifetime) warr and work better. Maybe that is why the people that by lee seem to think they need a turret or progressive press. Changing dies is more trouble with the retarded ring lee uses.

Sorry lee users there are too many conditions on lee warr that others do not have. Not saying that lee stuff will not make reloads. Just like optics you get what you pay for.
