    First time reloading went great!

I reloaded for the first time over the weekend.
It wasn't really that hard but I made sure to read as much as I could about loading.
And every 10th round I would weigh the powder to make sure it was the right amount and check OAL.

    Loaded 300rds of .40 S&W.

    I used a Dillon 550B and couldn't be happier.

I used once fire brass, Clays powder, Winchestor primers, and Montana Gold 180gr FMJ.

I went with the minimum load at 3.0gr and OAL 1.125.

Went to the range yesterday to try out the reloads and they fed through my handguns just fine.

Now its all about fine tuning and bumping up the powder a little more.

I definitely hooked on reloading now.

isnt it great when you can not only make your own ammo but be able to tune a specific load to each and every one of your guns for optimal performance? Gotta love it. Way to go the bug hath bitten

Haha yes I've been bitten by the reload bug.
I had a big smile on my face after the first 100rds.

I'll stick to my handgun loading for awhile before I attempt rifle loads.
Theres a bit more that has to be done to rifle loads from what I read on Calguns.

Nrahighpowershooter haha no calling me Stubs just yet.

Peter haha yeah it feels great.
The whole time I'm loading I was like "Oh crap I hope I'm doing things right".
After shooting I have more confidence now in my reloading even tho that was just the first batch.

rifle loads are not hard, it's just the brass prep work that can be a pain in the butt. start with new brass first, it's much easier this way (no brass prep needed)

                  Remember COMA....

It's easy to double load a pistol round Try not to get so full of yourself that you pick up the name of Stubs Check every round and dump the powder in the ones you have question about. If in doubt throw it out

Who knows in a couple months you will be an old salt like Pistolpete
                  I won't be wronged
                  I won't be insulted
And I won't be laid a hand on.

Gunsrruss thanks for the advice. Didn't want anyone thinking Im getting full of myself. As a precaution I was checking the powder weight and OAL of the finished ammo every 10th round. I was using a Dillon 550B and once dialed in, I never had to mess with it except for filling the primer tube.

As far as distractions there are none when I lock myself in the garage (boys club). Haha when the wifey-to-be sees the do not disturb sign she knows to leave me alone even if my house was on fire hahaha.

As of right now all my handguns are .40 S&W.
As soon as I throw some 1911's into the mix I'll be loading .45acp as well.

I'm thinking about throwing the case feeder onto my 550B.

Anyone have any feedback on it?

I think about the case feeder as well..but then it gets me thinking that I might as well of went w/ the 650 from the get go

I'm happy with my 550B turning out 300 - 400rds on the weekend when I have time is good for me. I won't be turning out 2000rds a weekend so no need for a 650 just yet hahha.
