    Not understand .224 .223

I have not reloaded yet. have all the equipment. but havent started yet.

I am trying to get my brass, bullets etc for .223

I cant find anything that says .223, it all says .224

And a balisitics program I have seems to use .224 in referance to .223

    is that the same thing?

yup, .224 bullets are what are spec'ed to be used in a .223 Remington. that .223 number for the ammo name isn't always the exact measurement of the round. just like the .222 Remington uses the same bullet. And stuff like the .38 special use a .357 bullet (which is where the .357 magnum gets its name) and a .44mag uses something like a .429 bullet.

You needto follow the info in the reloading guides carefully.

Here's a bit more confusion for you -- .225 diameter bullet in your 223 if you use cast bullets. If you have an older 22hornet you need .223 diameter jacketed bullets.

When people refer to cast bullets.. what is that?

When I think of cast bullets I think of melting lead, pouring it into a mold and making the bullet yourself.

Is that what a "cast" bullet is? (yeah I know, I should use google at this point lol )

People always pick nice numbers. A 350ci is not 5.7 liters. Same goes for 302ci and 5.0.

tfox -- yes a cast bullet is geneally as you described. Lead alloy melted in pot, poured into mould, sized to proper diameter and lubed.

You need to get the Lyman Reloading manual and read it. It will answer so many questions for you and is an excellent reloading data book. IF you load barnes bullets you need to also get thier book for data as it will be different than any other bullet.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

.308 Winchester is correct in terms of diameter but when 30-06 Springfield is mentioned it's a .308" diameter bullet.
