Dillon - How Often To Check Alignment?

    CG'ers,

Those with Big Blue - How often do you check alignment?

Another question - how often do you clean? Do you always check alignment when you clean?

    Thanks,
    jwest

    Alignment of what?

I blow it clean and wipe it down every couple thousand of rounds.
Every 10k or so I disassemble it to clean and lube.
    I replace parts as needed.

I've only did this once so far. I did it after I loaded about 25k and then completely stripped it apart and cleaned and re-oiled.

I do a basic clean every 5k (spray with compressed air and lube/grease)

The alignment tool is still in it's plastic bag unused. I do a limited tear down around every 10K, all frame parts are lubed to Dillon's specification around every 2K. One thing to check and clean if your loading lead bullets is the crimp die insert for the build up of bullet lube.

I've been loading on my Dillon 450B since the early 80s, what's this "alignment" that you speak of?

The alignment tool is used only on the RL-550B and XL-650 for the realignment of the primer seating punch and the shellplate.

Sometimes you learn something new, everyday..
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

OK, I've only had my 550B for 5 years and haven't aligned it yet.
