    Hornaday SST vs SMK

Thoughts for a DPMS 24" SS Bull upper?

I was about to work some loads for the SMK 175g HPBT's that I have, and a friend gave me some Hornaday SST 165g.

    How are the SST's?

    This is for .308

As if they're little tactical nukes, stacked up in "Assault Clips" ready to be "sprayfired" "from the hip" by pistol grip equipped "bullet hoses" instead of early variations of the softpoint bullets people have been using to take game with (and use for self-defense) for the last century.

They're not bad. I'm not a huge fan of Hornady's as I've found they drop like a rock (i.e. don't retain velocity as well) compared to SMK's. My opinion.

      The Hornady 165 has a B.C. of.447. The Sierra 175 OTM has a B.C. of .496 (when running between 2800-1800 FPS).

The Hornady SST is a hunting bullet and will not be as accurate as the Sierra Match King.

What are you going to use the SST's for?
