    Should have bought a Dillon

I am new to reloading and heard a lot of good things about Dillon and RCBS so I figured CS would be a toss up between the two. I spent some time checking out both the pro2000 and the 550b. I decide on the pro2000 and buy it off the net.

I get it mounted go through the assembly and get to the powder measure and find the measuring cylinder is so tight in the powder measure casting it wont turn. I thought I will call RCBS and get this squared away post haste......

not even close RCBS CS was nice, knowledgeable and said they were sending a new measure body with the hopper. After waiting a week and no replacement I call and they tell me it has not even shipped yet. WTF!!!!!

if I did not like the the setup I would return it now. I can't imagine how long it would take if I needed a part that is pro 2000 specific. Should have bought a Dillon, newbie mistake I will not make again.

Lee vs Dillon is like Glock vs 1911. Nobody is right, what works for you is the right choice.

RCBS CS has always been top notch for me. I had a problem with my 20+ year old Piggyback progressive conversion and broke a major part. When I emailed RCBS they replied within a couple of days and said to send them part numbers and they would send them to me. Over the past 20 years I had broken, lost or wore out other parts on the loader so I asked if they could replace the parts and I would pay for them. RCBS said just send them the list and they would get back to me with a price. Two days later I received a unexpected package from RCBS with all the parts (atleast 20 small and large parts). I called them to see what I owed and they said it was on the house. I have since had to contact RCBS CS several times over the past few years, not because of poor quality but because my loader had about outlived it usefulness. I finally broke down and bought a Dillon and I couldn't be happier. It's a whole different beast but in a good way.

But you are right, you should have bought the Dillon. As much as I like my RCBS I like my Dillon 650 more. If you still can I would return the 2000 and buy a Dillon 550 or 650 which are superior.

how long ago was your experience with RCBS CS? I ask since they may be sacrificing some CS to cost cutting since I found their CS hours are now 7-3 PST M-Th.

The last time I contact RCBS CS was in September when I needed to replace my tumbler under warranty. Actually I purchased my tumbler several years back and they said the warranty was only valid for 1 year from the date of purchase. But since I was upfront with when I purchased it and I have been a loyal customer they replaced it. Unfortunately the one I had was no longer being made (it was the extra large Mega tumbler). They said they would give me credit for the MSRP on the tumbler and I could upgrade to their high end tumbler or buy the one which replaced my model and they would give me a $30 credit. I would have liked to upgrade to the ultra tumbler but it would have been $200 more so I went with the standard version and used the $30 credit to get the swagger kit.

All in all, I like my RCBS equipment and still use my Rockchucker without the Piggyback II. I do however like how modern and reliable my Dillon is.

Wow, RCBS customer service has always been good to me. I've called them a few times and they've always sent me parts for free, even though i've offered to pay and that the broken stuff was clearly my fault.
Maybe ya got a fluke of an experience...

If you're goin progressive, Dillon is probably the best way to go though....
                      The dude abides...

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
