231, Remember .40 is a high pressure round. I reload 357 Sig & 10mm and use AA-7 & AA-9, and only a published load. My best accuracy was always 90-95% max. You may be asking the cartridge to do something outside it's parameters.

      What weight bullet?
What do your reloading manuals have to say?

I have never been able to understand why people want to load handgun rounds
to max. Hard on the hardware as well as the body and not a real pleasure to shoot either.

Well that is just my opinion.

If you want velocity, Power Pistol is good for that.

I have been researching this myself, what do you want your 40 to do? Plink? Universal is fine, red dots good w231 is good.

40 major? Go Power Pistol, WSF, or Unique. You'll be able to make major well below max loads.

If you want to get a LOT of velocity, I believe PowerPistol is listed at 1060fps for max load.

I myself want it for plinking. I am using a Glock 23, and 27. My brother wants to load max loads. That is why I ask.

thanks for the info...I will pass it on...

For me...I have decided to go with Tite Group for my .40 loads.
